Our new release If the People Stare (EP) is out now! Stream it on Spotify here and you can also download for free or “pay what you want” on our bandcamp. We’re so happy with how it turned out.

The EP was recorded and engineered by David Newton (The Might Lemon Drops, The Henry Clay People, The Soft Pack) at Rollercoaster Studios in Burbank, CA in November 2012. Mastered by Jeff Lipton (Arcade Fire, Wilco) at Peerless Mastering in Boston, MA.

New Chapter

We are quite sad to inform you that Bridgette will be leaving Torches. You may ask, why? All we can say is that it came down to irreconcilable differences. We very much enjoyed her 2 year stay with Torches and let’s not forget her contributions to our other monikers/previous incarnations. She played an integral role in the band thumping on bass and singing with us through small and big venues all across the US. Eric and I would like to wish her the best and we still love her. It’s not over……The band is not coming to an end. In fact we are far from that and we remain optimistic about our future. We have a new bass player and the songs are sounding better than ever. We’d like to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your continued support towards the band and we cannot wait for what’s next. There are so many great things in store for Torches and we’re very happy and excited to share it all with you. Just wait…

See you this Monday at Bardot? 8:30pm

Back in LA/Missing NYC

TORCHES are back in the city of Angels. We miss NYC, but we know that we will be back soon enough. The tour was an incredible journey that will forever be ingrained in our brains. We met so many great people along the way and were welcomed by such sweet friends and family. Our CMJ experience proved to be magical…and New York City is the fucking craziest place on Earth. I’d describe it as beautiful, ugly, fast, and congested. I loved every minute of it and so did my band-mates. And now the question is, when will we go back?

Here’s some photos from the tour

Our first extensive Northwest Tour is over and the feeling is bittersweet, but it’s nice to be back home in the company of our good friends and family. We made good connects and sold much more albums then we expected. This was a tremendously beautiful experience and we cannot wait to get on the road again…hint hint…soon.

S e a t t l e

So we’ve been in Seattle for a few days, enjoying the green environment and clear skies. Last night we played a house party for family and friends. It was a nice change of pace from what we’re used to i.e. bars and venues. This tour continues to surprise us…I’m glad we’ll be coming back up to the Northwest to tour again in September.

The bodies of water surrounding Washington are nothing short of gorgeous. There is a beautiful lake near by and we plan to go swimming. Anyone up here care to join? We’re all quite grateful to be up here with good company. We’re going to remember these times for the rest of our lives.

Tonight we play at The Comet. We’d like to thank our friend, Jason Friendt who has worked hard to make things happen for us up here in Seattle. T O R C H E S//THE COMET//TONIGHT//9PM//

Our Northwest tour has been great so far…we’ve played in Santa Cruz, a couple Shows in Portland, and are set to play in Olympia, WA tonight. Bunk Bar in Portland was by far our best show yet. It’s crazy how sometimes a bunch of strangers will focus all of their attention on you, dance, and even spend their money on your merchandise. That happened in Portland at Bunk Bar. Until next time…

We’re going to spend the day exploring the city of Olympia and we’re playing a show at Le Voyeur in the evening.

The band is about to head out on tour...Invite your friends and family to come see Torches play…right here

This is our first extensive Northwest tour and we couldn’t be happier to take off again and this time in support of our very first album, HEADS FULL OF RUST

Also did we mention we are doing a DAYTROTTER session? Many of our favorite bands such as Grizzly Bear, Liars, Wilco, Dungen, and Deerhunter have done these sessions.
